Don't Wait to Get the Help You Need

I’m Back!

I know it’s been quite awhile since I’ve posted for my blog and I apologize for being away.  Things have gotten a bit crazy over here lately as I was medically released from the transplant team on July 24th and since being allowed out in public again I’ve been trying to get back “to life”. I am still following up with all of my specialists and will be seeing the transplant doctors every 3 months for the next year but I’m feeling really good.

During my 3 month isolation period I had been trying different, healthy recipes and working on how to prep and cook meals that can be stored and used throughout my work weeks. I’ve also decided that now is the time to put one of my dreams to the test and I’m attempting to open my own business. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in NJ and I have wanted to “hang out my own shingle” for awhile now and as I have a new lease on life I decided to move forward on this dream. I have been researching, networking and looking into the many aspects related to running a business and I have to say I feel as if I may be going a bit crazy. I have seen a quote that seems to fit this situation well and it says “If your dreams don’t scare you then they are not big enough”.

In that case, my dreams are huge because yes I’m sufficiently scared. Right now, not only am I focused on all the aspects that go into marketing, opening, successfully running a business and attaining financial stability but I’m also focused on maintaining stability with my health which feels like a full time job in and of itself. I know that as time goes on and I continue to remain healthy (because no other option will be entertained) that life will return to my new normal and all the things I need to do as a transplant patient will become second nature just as it did when I was first diagnosed with lupus 24 years ago. It still has me feeling as if I’ve just started walking up a very steep hill and I’m working on catching my breath but I will keep going because I’ve always had a problem with quitting.
