Don't Wait to Get the Help You Need

“Hope strengthens. Fear kills” ~ KMM

Why yes, I did use a quote from a favorite book series as my headline

It struck a chord with me when I read it and I’ve now adopted it as one of my mantras. Every day we are faced with a multitude of choices from what to eat, what to wear, how do I get out of bed, what do I say to people, do I smile and nod or do I try and explain what my smile might be hiding? At any given moment each of us may be experiencing physical, emotional and/or spiritual pain wondering how do we move forward. I don’t pretend to have the perfect answer for that but what I do know is how I have learned to answer that question for myself. I’ve thrown more than my fair share of “why me” parties and I think it’s okay to allow ourselves to grieve, to cry and stomp our feet when it seems as if our guardian angel has taken a long sabbatical. Then, I ask myself “what now?” At some point, it is time to pick ourselves up and make a choice to look at what is within our control and that is pretty much everything about US! We cannot control others or outside forces but we can control our actions, thoughts, reactions, behaviors, and emotions. Is it easy? Umm…..definitely not!

That is where my new mantra comes in….Hope strengthens. Fear Kills. Trust me when I tell you I need reminders just like anyone else. There are plenty of times I want to shout “do what I say and not what I do”. It takes continual practice and sometimes a good kick in the pants to remember I’m worth fighting for even if or especially if I’m the one doing the fighting. So I remind myself of all the times I have been knocked down and my track record for getting up at this point is 100%. I remember my dreams, goals and accomplishments and I know that I’ve had to readjust my new normal more than a few times. Then I make a conscious choice to gather every ounce of stubbornness I possess and head out to show the Universe who it’s up against.

I’d love to hear your stories, struggles, agree or disagree this is a safe place to open up. As always, remember Every Day Is A New Beginning.
